About Sapaadu
Sapaadu is a home for South Indian cooking and the everyday wisdom that comes with it — the recipes the way amma made them, and the kitchen remedies that Grandma passed down.
Our story
Every family has a kitchen full of memory: the smell of dosa on a Sunday morning, the glass of warm turmeric milk pressed into your hands at the first sign of a cold. Sapaadu is our way of writing those things down before they fade — the dishes, the habits, and the little pieces of food-as-medicine wisdom our parents and grandparents lived by.
We cook from that tradition, and we share it plainly: real recipes you can follow, and traditional remedies framed honestly as heritage rather than prescription.
What you'll find here
- Recipes — South Indian tiffin, rice and curries, chutneys and sambars, and sweets, written as clear, tested steps.
- Grandma Says — traditional home remedies and kitchen tips, drawn from generational wisdom and written in our own words.
Our promise
The food here is home cooking, not restaurant cooking. Restaurant dishes lean on extra oil, cream, and richness to stand out; home food is lighter, simpler, and made to be eaten every day to lead a long health life. Our recipes are South Indian meals the way families actually cook them at home. Our home remedies are rooted in tradition and keep their language honest — "traditionally taken for," not medical claims — and we hold back anything we can't share responsibly. Health-related content is general information only, never a substitute for professional medical advice. Please see our Disclosure & Disclaimer and Privacy Policy.
